How To Change Your Oil (Full) – EricTheCarGuy

How To Change Your Oil (Full) – EricTheCarGuy www.ericthecarguy.com Here is the ‘uncut’ version of the oil change video that I did some time ago, the one thing I wish I had done differently in this video is that I would have shown putting a little bit of oil into the filter before installation as this would help with lubrication during start up. — Click below and Stay Dirty Visit me at EricTheCarGuy.com ericthecarguy.com Visit EricTheCarGuy Forum www.ericthecarguy.com Visit my Facebook Page: www.facebook.com —Stay dirty ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information. Good video. There are a few additional items that may be helpful. I always put oil in the new filter before I install it. When you start the engine after change you get oil press sooner. Also, I make sure to thoroughly clean the oil filter gasket plate with a clean paper towel before installing filter. I never put more than capacity amount back into the engine. Having too much oil is hard on the seals. I save any extra new oil in a quart bottle either under the hood or in the trunk for top-offs.

  • 1ownjoo2 says:

Yea i know right ? So far i havent come accross that, altho i only work on my 2 own vehicles both 98 Grand cherokee’s one a 4.0 the other a 5.9. I never overtighten the plug just turn it till it stops loosely and your done really.. I noticed on the oil pan on Erics car the threads are many and large.. They go deep into the pan so you dont really gatta worry to much about overtightening that plug.. On my Jeeps tho there is only like 2 threads for the plug lol.

  • 1ownjoo2 says:

You have to check the oil level when its warmed up.. After you fill it firstly run the car for like 10 seconds.. Turn it off and check the level if its on the ok mark your good.. Then drive it around for 10 minutes and turn it off and wait 5 minutes to check it one last time to make sure the level is good..

  • jeepers2655 says:

surprised Ginsu has`nt come out with a blade for Lawnmowers?

  • truckingman26 says:

thats funny to do that when he has a bench grinder

  • tunespt says:

I use a thin stone bench grinder and after that, give it lots of heat and dip into burned oil :)

  • Rgkosta2 says:

Why didn’t you use the bench grinder?

  • spinlessbastard1 says:

yeah you do that ! as for the tire balancing ,what i do is jack the car up, put it in gear and floor it up to about 5.500rpm hold it at that and then get a big hammer and hit the wheel on the part that’s buckled works every time !

  • Angelo Inferno says:

SWEET! I’ll try it out and tell you how it goes, aren’t there some tire balancers that work with the tire on the car? That might be a good way to get the blade balanced without taking it off of the mower.

  • spinlessbastard1 says:

your welcome to try it, although ,ive had no help WHAT SO EVER !!! from this eric the car wrecker, you ask a guy for help and all he does is give ya a load of abuse ,calling me fat ass ,and saying hed kick me up them stairs…..hes a real piece of work :)

  • yellowbusguy says:

Resist the urge to make the blade sharp like a knife which makes the edge too thin. The result is deep nicks and bends. Maintain a 3/8th’s inch bevel and bring the edge to be like a butter knife , and don’t try to mow gravel.

  • Angelo Inferno says:

Would you mind if I used your idea to try to make an automatic blade sharpening machine? Sorry, whenever an idea like this comes up I just have to try it out, and I think that a device that uses that method of sharpening could work very well as long as you have a way to balance the blade afterwards.

  • Angelo Inferno says:

That’s rather rude. If his methods work, then his method is correct and you have no right to tell him otherwise. I myself know of many people that use this method of sharpening and it works very well for them, my own family and myself included.

  • Angelo Inferno says:

Now that I think about it, there may be a way to simplify lawnmower sharpening by making a device that fits under the lawnmower and simply raises a specialized sharpening stone to meet the blade while the engine is running. It would probably be pretty difficult to build but it may be possible, your idea has the added advantage of following the angle of the blade while it is spinning on the mower, so it would provide cleaner cuts, you would need something for balancing the blade though.

  • Angelo Inferno says:

In theory, I think it might be possible for that to work, if you used the right grinding stone and went really slowly at just the right angle. But, I think that the safety issues with being that close to a running mower, plus the fact that you would have to sharpen the blade from underneath since most mowers only run when right side up, would prevent this from being a practical method of sharpening. Still, crazy ideas are the mother of invention so thumbs up for creative thinking.

I sharpen my blade by passing it thru my ass.

  • lgttb1 says:

what in the wide world of sports are you mowing , a rock garden ? that old blade was chipped all to hell ! perhaps a nice run with a file on it after you put the sanding disk to it might help even out the blade

  • Jason Kilgore says:

mhhhhhh…i like em’ mustard biscuits mhmmm

  • kenman1717 says:

i’d probably do it like this now, if i had a lawn mower. but i moved to the city 6 years ago and live in an apartment. but when i was younger i used to but i did it with a hand file, thats hard work, especiallly when there are those small chunks out of the cutting edge. knew a guy that welded in a big chunk after a rock hit it, filed it smooth, went for 5 more years till the engine seized. forgot to change the oil every year.

  • mark jenkins says:
