How To Install Replace Window Regulator 97-02 Ford F-150 Expedition 1AAuto.com
www.1aauto.com 1A Auto shows you how to repair, install, fix, change or replace a broken, cracked, damaged, slow-moving, or stuck power window regulator and motor. This procedure is generally the same for most 1997-02 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator as well as 1997-03 Ford F150.
We currently do not carry the clips for that particular vehicle.
Great video that told me EVERYTHING I needed to know. My problem is that the window keeps popping out of the holds/clips on the regulator arm. One of them is really waller’d out, so it won’t stay in the clips, even with epoxy. Does 1aauto sell those clips?
You may want to first test the wire going to the window motor to see if there’s power going to it. If there is it may be the window motor that has gone bad. Also check the fuses to see if any of them are blown.
IS it just a good idea to get the regualtor and the motor? Not sure what is going on with mine other than it doesnt work? Great videos!
You should be able to change just the motor if that’s the only thing wrong with it. Here’s a link to them on our website. Just copy and paste into your browser 1aauto.com/1A/WindowMotors/Ford/Expedition/-/-/1997?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=youtube&utm_campaign=1ATony
hi, do i have to buy regulator and motor together? or i can buy just the motor if my motor is the only that’s not working….plzz let me know
THanks!!
Ignore last question, see it’s already answered below…thx
Thanks for checking us out. Have a great day.
YOU NEED TO LINK FOR CONTINUITY BETWEEN PART 1 AND PART 2 OF YOUR VIDEOS
otherwise, thank you- I ordered and will be replacing per your website and instruction.
Glad we could help you out. Here’s a link to the window regulators that we offer on our website for your 2001 Lincoln Navigator in case you need another down the road. 1aauto.com/1A/WindowRegulators/Lincoln/Navigator/-/-/2001?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=youtube&utm_campaign=1ATony
This also is the same for 01 lincoln navigotor window regulator .
Thanks 1aauto, I just saved a ton because of your video. I bought my regulator/motor from napa & of course they didny tell me that there were 6 rivets holding it in place so I used my dremmel to cut the heads off the punched it out with a screw driver….then I needed help with finding out how to put the new one in by the motor & thats when I found your video on how to install, it helped me out very much. you are the man.
No problem at all. Thanks for checking us out. Have a great day!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! my window has been messed up for 2 years in my expedition. now i can fix it myself….
Thank You, very very very very very very much! I just paid someone to mess this up for me! I will go it alone this time.
This video is extremely helpful. . On our( 97 F150) we have plastic ribets instead of screws on the door panel removel. We had to get some new plastic ribets. In order to remove the plastic insulation you must remove the door handle assembly and peal the backing off carefully. Speaker must be removed. I used 1/4 bolts 3/4 long to reattach the track assembly. Spring must be put on correctly! (See Video). Other than a few minor differences The Video is great !
Thanks “Jack of all trades”
well done on the video. will refer to this when i replace my motor.
Thank you for checking us out, and also for your purchase. The auto roll down feature is enabled by the switch.
I used M6 1.0X12MM and they worked fine. The only thing I did different on the install was install all the bolts with the nut on the outside (not interior to the door.)
This video was extremely helpful and also got me to buy my regulator and motor from 1AAuto
One thing that I noticed does not work any more is my ‘auto’ roll down. Was the ‘auto’ roll down a function of the original motor or is that a function of the door switch?
Received my replacement parts from 1AA and am about to start the repair. When replacing the rivets with nuts/bolts what size are you using? It’s hard to tell from just watching the video.
thanks much my window came off track in my 98 expedition and its too cold here for me to do too much and this helped me to put it back on track
I really can’t tell but it does sound like you put in the spring wrong. It could also be the joints in your regulator are worn, I always recommend replacing the motor and regulator at the same time.
I was replacing the motor and when I removed the motor from the regulator the tension spring behind the motor came out witch way should it go in? my new motor is loud like its trying to hard to roll up the window… should i get a new motor or did i put the tension spring in wrong?
I’d use bolts as well.
thanks. my regulator kit came with rivets. should i just put those back in or do you recommend bolts? expeditionforum says use bolts but i just wasnt sure.
