Chestnut Hill: Schindler 300A Man-Powered Elevator @ Mall at Chestnut Hill Parking Garage

This is one of three identical Schindler 300A Man-Powered Elevators, all with “MT Promises” fixturing, in the parking garage behind The Mall at Chestnut Hill, Chestnut Hill, or Newton, Massachusetts (USPS considers Chestnut Hill it’s own town). What’s interesting here is, it’s a large 4-story garage, with NO ELEVATOR ACCESS. The only way to get to the store, or vice-versa, is the ground level of the garage, which enters the 2nd floor of the store, or 3rd level of the garage, which enters the top (3rd) level of the store. Sucks to be handicapped if you park on the 2nd or 4th level of the garage. I chose the MPE that I did, because it has an interesting glass enclosure up top, including a door to the “Room of Pointlessness”. Frankly, they could’ve had the few mechanicals in the MPE.

It would have been interesting to see how the elevator would have turned out, considering that curved wall.
It does look last-minute, to MPE this.
It’s just plain odd.
From the looks of the MPE, it seems like they were about to put in an elevator, but decided to go with an MPE at the last minute.
The stair area itself seems like it could fit an elevator. That glass “lobby” area could easily be the elevator lobby.
Nevermind that SchindlerHaughton famous saying:
“This EASILLY could be made glass!”
This is more like:
“This EASILLY could be made an elevator!”
Seems like they paid more attention to the stairs in the Parking Garage, and none into putting in an elevator.
The MPE you rode looks like it could have easily been made an elevator considering how close to the mall entrance it is.
amazing work!
Really? For phone calls?
Wow! My first “Snob Box”!
umm… great.. sound effects. I guess? And also that door is meant to be for people making phone calls.
Not really, as the MPE is where the elevator would’ve gone.
such a large garage needs electric elevators. boring mpe. door to nothing was probably where an electric elevator would be found.
Nice.
lol…..
I’ve done this stuff for 3 years now. Everyone else that does MPE videos, got it from here.
